 Conference Objectives

This conference will provide health care professionals an overview of current trends, management techniques, and new innovations and research to treat liver and kidney diseases. Experts will present updates on various topics, including living donor transplants, trends in organ allocation, and caring for patients with end-stage liver and kidney disease.

This one-day conference will be divided into two courses:

Liver Course

  • Living-donor liver transplants
  • Complication and management of cirrhosis
  • Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFD)
  • Liver mass and hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC)
  • Basics of liver transplant
  • Nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH)
  • Acute liver failure

Kidney Course

  • Organ availability in the United States
  • Antibodies: human leukocytte antigen, calculated panel reactive antibodies, etc.
  • Surveillance: cytomegalovirus and BK cancers
  • Kidney allocation
  • Diabetes and pancreas transplantation
  • Candidacy for transplant
  • Living-donor kidney transplant

Who Should Attend

This course is designed for liver, kidney, oncology, and intestinal health care providers, including gastroenterologists, nephrologists, hepatologists, oncologists, abdominal and general surgeons, dialysis care team members, insurance case managers, nurses, referring primary care physicians, and advanced practice providers.
